Year-End Report 2006
The following report shows the listener growth and financials for 2006, WeaveCast's first year.
Listener Growth
WeaveCast has grown tremendously in the past year. There are many folks who helped make it all possible: the listeners who discovered WeaveCast during 2006 and helped spread the word about the show, all the wonderfully talented guests who shared their stories, the generous donating listeners who've helped keep the lights on, our brave sponsors who ventured into the wilds of podcast advertising, the wonderful community of podcasters who've shared their technical and creative talents, and most of all, my husband and son, for putting up with all the long hours I spend at the computer editing audio and the time I spend on the road gathering interviews. I couldn't have done it without you. Thank you!
The following chart shows the number of times each episode has been
downloaded. As you can see, the listenership has grown markedly
over the past year (fuschia bars) from its beginnings with 0 listeners
to the current levels of 2273.
In addition, new listeners tend to go back and and “catch up” by listening to all the preceding episodes. So, over time, listenership for a given episode increases (lavender bars.)
Note: The spike at position 10 (which was WeaveCast Episode
6: Double-Decker Weaving with Jennifer Moore) was likely due to
WeaveCast getting mentioned in the Interweave Press online newsletter
during Spinning & Weaving Week.
Financial Report
The following table lists the financials for WeaveCast in 2006. As you can see, there is some good news ($962.90 in income, mostly derived from listener donations-thank you!) and some bad news, a net loss of $1503.00. Much of the loss is due to start-up equipment costs, so hopefully 2007 will present a brighter picture. This loss, however, means that my family is donating $125 a month to help keep WeaveCast going. If you have spare funds, please consider making a donation. If you enjoy the show each month, please consider foregoing one latte a month ($3.50 a month or $42 a year) to help keep WeaveCast funded. Don't have that much to share? No donation is too small. Think about it, if every listener who listened to the Anita Luvera Mayer show put $1 in an envelope and mailed it in, we would have broken even this year. Your contributions count.
