Wooohooo!!! Welcome, welcome, welcome!! I *just* found the site (I was looking at my site stats and found a referral from your page) and just downloaded your promo and first show. Can't wait to listen! And to think - I just put out a show today. I could have mentioned you! Darn!!

BTW, if you need any help, let me know. Your show is not available in iTunes yet, as far as I can tell.

Hi, your show sounds great! I'm primarily a knitter and not a weaver(yet!), but am interested in all things fiber related. Look forward to more shows from you!

BTW, I've just posted a review on all the current fiber related podcasts that I know about.

Hey Caroline! Thank you for the enthusiastic welcome! How are the alpacas? alpaci? :>

I'd love a future mention on the FiberCast. I just listened to the KnitCast anniversary show and it was wonderful hearing all of you together. I too am an ex-computer-world geek grrl.

I'd love help/advice on how to get my show listed in iTunes. I'm so new at this I don't really know what I'm doing (ie: haven't gotten to that chapter in Podcasting for Dummies yet...) ;>

Hey Faith,

Thanks for the friendly comments on WeaveCast. Future shows will be more knitter friendly. Perhaps we can tempt some of ya'll over to the "warped" side. ;>

Am I reviewed on your blog? Where? Do tell?

All best,

Yeah! Welcome to the fray. I really really enjoyed your first show. Please take a look at my Oxaback loom on my website. I simply love working with a countermarche loom.

Woo hoo is right - thanks for doing a weaving podcast! I'm downloading it now, and can't wait to listen to it on the drive down to Stitches West tomorrow morning.

As for iTunes, I believe you need to have an account to be able to add a podcast to their directory listing.

Addendum...

I knew I recognized your name from somewhere -- in the big Weaving list scarf exchange a year or so back, you got one of my blue tencel scarves.

Ellen,

Thanks for the kind comments about my first episode. Nice loom! Looks like you could weave castle walls on that thing (and everything else down to a gossamer scarf.) The dogs are powerful cute as well. I've never tried a countermarche, I've always worried that having to do a balanced weave every time would drive me nuts. Are there tricks to weave an unbalanced web (like a 1/3 twill) on a countermarche?

All best,

Hey Nancy,

Welcome to the show. I'm tickled pink that my podcast is getting to drive down to Stitches West. How appropriate. :>

Your blue scarf is hanging on my coat rack right now! I love the dreamy drape of tencel, somewhere between silk and rayon.

I'll try to get the iTunes thing figured out. I know you can subscribe using iTunes, because I tested that myself, but I'll have to research how to add my podcast to their catalog.

All best,

--Syne

Welcome to the party!! I will play your promo on my show (should air Monday or Tuesday).

I am downloading your show right now. You can list through iTunes by opening it and then clicking "music store" then "podcasts" then "submit a podcast."

You will need to set up an account, but it's pretty easy!

Wow, I am thrilled to see a weaving podcast, and very impressed with your first episode! You did a great job, and I'm looking forward to more. Funny, I'm from the Portland area, a geek grrrl, and my first loom was a Baby Wolf too! I just assembled my second loom, a Glimakra, and I'm weaving off some tea towels (short warp, so that I can get the hang of warping this thing BTF, using Peggy's books of course!).

Can't wait to hear your next episode...

You do need an account, but the process of adding a podcast to iTunes is very simple. Once you have an account (which only takes a few minutes), it's a very short form to fill out. The podcast is then posted to the listings within 24 or 48 hours. I also like Podcast Alley and Podcast Pickle for podcast directories. There are a couple of good Yahoo groups on podcasting as well.

BTW, I forgot to mention this in my previous comment, but countermarche looms don't have issues with unbalanced weaves. It is the counterbalance loom that has shed issues with them, and I think you can remedy those. I get beautiful sheds with my Glimakra... It is also an amazingly quiet loom.

Ah, you are thinking of a counterBALANCE. Yes, on a counterbalance getting unbalanced twills, such as 1/3 is an issue. But what I have is a counterMarche that pulls both up and down on the heddles. Joanne Hall has a wonderful website with a page that shows the difference between the types of looms http://www.glimakrausa.com/types.html

But I also have a Baby Wolf. My next weaving goal (besides weaving the 16 meters of dishtowl warp on the Oxaback) is to warp mine with alpaca for a scarf :)

I listened to your first podcast on the way back from Stitches (Brenda Dane got the southward trip).

Great story about your first warp -- I'm so impressed you trudged on! And you were very lucky to have Judith as a first teacher. I can't wait to hear your interview with her next month.

And I'll make sure that Peggy Osterkamp knows you're a fan. I'm in her weaving class at CCSF, and I'll spread the word about your podcast at class on Friday.

Whit,
How kind! Thank you for the mention on your podcast. I just listened to the Resolutions episode and enjoyed it very much.

Ellen,
There goes my first moment of ritual humilation. Guess that'll teach me to be Jack-Loom-Centric!

Linda,
Welcome and thank you for the kind comments!

Caroline and Whit,
Thank you for the iTunes help

I really like your first show, and that is even though I don't weave... actually I wondered if you could give some recources on the web on how to find out more about this, because it sounds fun :D

Actually, based on several comments I've gotten from knitters and other not-yet-weavers, I'm planning a bonus episode 1.5 "Weaving for Knitters" that will be a humorous primer for non-weavers. There will be an audio loom tour, top ten reasons knitters should try weaving, and now thanks to you, a comprehensive list of online resources for beginners in the show notes. So thanks for the suggestion.

BTW, if anyone has contributions for the top ten reasons knitters should try weaving, email them to me privately at syne@weavecast.com. Thanks!

reasons knitters should start weaving, you mean except for the fact that we get to extend our stash even more, and have an excuse for it? :D

I'm not a weaver, but (another) knitter and spinner. But I listen to all the fiber podcasts, and I sure enjoyed yours. Almost like looking over the shoulder of a weaver. Thanks you for a great program. Keep it up!

Thanks Nancy! Glad to hear the show appeals to not-yet-weavers as well. ;>

Well, here's another non-weaving fan! I thoroughly enjoyed your podcast despite the fact that I don't weave. You have a great voice for a podcast! I will also play your promo on my podcast (which is also new so maybe we could so a promo swap) which is a crochet podcast at www.CrochetCast.com.

Can't wait to hear the knitter-friendly episodes since I knit too!

More! More! I listen to knitting podcasts even though I don't knit all that much, just for the fibre-fix - I can hardly bear to wait a month between WeaveCasts.

Of course, I could stop all this displacement activity and get on with warping my loom. 'Fear of Warping' really hit the spot - I sold my first (and largest) loom after four years without ever having plucked up the courage to warp it at all.

HI I found your podcast the very day my LeCerlic Dorothy arrived from e-bay and while waiting for my Baby Wolf to get her from California. The poor loom was sitting for 10 years in someone's spare room, after I moved to Ireland.

Your story about about learning to spin and then being taking over by fiber sure brought back memories and "fear of warping" is my problem. I got my Baby Wolf in 1986 used and have used it exactly once, with someone else warping it. This past year, after several years of making and selling card weaving I decided I wanted to try larger looms again. After making two lovely shawls on a riged heddle I got brave enough to try and import my Baby Wolf and get started again.

Your podcast was just what I needed! Today I lay out the pieces of the table loom to make sure it was all there, and tomorrow (if the Baby Wolf isn't here yet) I will get out my books and follow one of them and see what happens.

Meanwhile, I nearly finished knitting a sock while catching up on all the podcasts.

Love the show!
Melodi/Disater Cat, now living in Ireland...
